Branch Activities

Established in 1952, current membership includes approximately ninety individuals with a wide range of talents and interests.

Sponsored Elect Her in 2011 and Campaign College in 2010 at the University of Texas in Arlington. Read about on AAUW's blog, AAUW Arlington news on the blog

In 2006, received the Star-Telegram’s George W. Hawkes STAR Award for service to the community.

In 1986, started the Expanding Your Horizons program now sponsored by the University of Texas Arlington (UTA).

Since 1973, has sponsored Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) for at-risk children in the Arlington Independent School District.

Since 1972, our annual Used Book Fair, has provided funding for UTA Scholarships and RIF, supported H.O.P.E. Tutoring, The Arlington Literacy Center and other local programs, AAUW’s Educational Foundation (EF) and Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF). Our next Book Fair will be October 24-27, 2013 at the Arlington Museum of Art.

Branch Scholarships & Opportunities

Funds the Kathryn Head AAUW Scholarships for Women Returning to School at the University of Texas Arlington.

Initiated and completed the Arlington Texas Branch Research & Project Grant and the Mary Swisher Smith Research & Project Grant, which continue to provide funds through the AAUW Education Foundation for women pursuing graduate degrees

Offers continuing education for members through a variety of programs to challenge your interests, two contemporary literature groups, a study of classical literature and a study of women’s biographies.
