Sessions
Keynote Speaker for Students
Katherine B. Ensor
Professor and Chair of Statistics, Rice University
Time series including categorical time series, spatial statistics, spatial-temporal methods, stochastic simulation, hierarchical modeling and information integration, stochastic process modeling and estimation. Application areas of financial modeling, risk management and environmental statistics.
Dr. Katherine Ensor works on the theoretical development of statistical methods for practical problems. Her primary emphasis is the analysis of dependent data as it relates to environmental statistics and financial statistics. She has also done significant work in the area of simulation based estimation for stochastic processes. The underlying premise of this latter research effort is the practical implementation of stochastic models as a data analysis tool.

Student Sessions
Our computer makes every effort to randomly assign each student to 4 sessions within her 1st and 2nd choice categories, first come, first served. However, there is no way to guarantee that a particular student will get a particular session. For examples of sessions offered, please visit www.aauw-whc.org/eyh.
Simple Science —
You’re in the heart of the science world when you experience one of these sessions.
These scientists will fascinate you with the things they know and how you benefit from
their knowledge every day. You’ll be amazed at the secrets they reveal while sharing their
experiences. Get out your test tubes and pull on your rubber gloves. This is pure science!
