Show us your PEARLS - Twelve Branches

The AAUW String of PEARLs event was held Friday evening at the 2010 AAUW Texas Convention: Opening Opportunities! in the Richmond Room.

The AAUW Texas String Of PEARLS applauds branches for projects, events, or activities that help successfully break through barriers and open opportunities so that all women have a fair chance. It enables branches to share [brag about] these efforts and energize their fellow members at the state convention.

AAUW PEARL projects, events, and activities were featured during the Welcome Reception.

A PEARL is always more beautiful when it‘s displayed. Twelve branches displayed PEARL posters portraying their PEARL efforts to embody AAUW‘s Goals, Mission and Values.

Revised Bylaws for AAUW Texas
- Proposed New
- Explanation of changes

Significant bylaws changes were made at the AAUW 2009 Convention which states must incorporate into their bylaws.

AAUW Texas decided to review the entire state bylaws and adopt parts of the new model bylaws. The articles that are not included in the explanation have either no changes or they have only mandated changes from AAUW. The article numbering scheme had to be changed because of the mandated articles. The term American Association of University Women has been replaced with AAUW.

The proposed changes related to state officers will take effect immediately after they are voted upon. This will allow the new board composition to be in place for the 2010-2012 biennium. The remaining changes will take effect July 1, 2010.

Members of the state bylaws committee are: Veronica Johnson, Mary Ann Huslig, and Pam Wolfe, chair. If you have any questions regarding these changes please contact Pam Wolfe (bylaws@) There will be a bylaws briefing Friday, April 23, 2010 before the opening session of the state convention in Houston.
